Pictures

A gallery of so far collated images can be found on the VC Melyd website gallery.

The gallery has just been reinstated, so while other parts are patchy, pictures from the three peaks by bike are unaffected. I will endeavor to write up the challenge and annotate the images as I am able.

...a few more pictures.

Submitted by webmaster on Sat, 06/16/2007 - 08:21.

After a fine evening at the Faenol, I have a few more pictures to share in addition to yesterdays entries.

I know it just looks like snow or something, but with a bit of creative thought you can piece together the way the cloud looked like some large gaseous duvet on top of the hills:

Before the off the team ammassed in the car park:

While this is a photo of a photo you get the idea. I don't recall it actually being as bad as it looks there, but the view was definitely as breathtaking as that:

VCM 1 - Rain 0

Submitted by webmaster on Fri, 06/15/2007 - 17:41.

The rain at 7am this morning was being blown hard against the windows of my house, and no doubt those in the lower towns. I peered out to see it dripping off the shed roof as a spooned muesli into my mouth - this was looking distinctly like the Gran Fondo Cymru revisited.

Having assembled at the Faenol, we packed a van with bikes, and bags full of "we don't know what the weather is going to be so lets take everything" cycling kit, and headed off in the car to the start of the event at Snowdon.

The off

Submitted by webmaster on Thu, 06/14/2007 - 11:18.

We are gathering at the Faenol Fawr for 9am Friday morning for the climb. Cycling kit, bike, mountain kit, rucksack, sense of humor required :)

With a return for the evening, much celebration and charity dinner where rumor has it we will be seen shirt and tied!

Off again in the morning for 1030 this time with our other bags and fond farewells for the week.

Queue the fond farewell music and loved ones waving handkerchiefs at the dock side etc. ...

Weathered

Submitted by webmaster on Thu, 06/14/2007 - 11:15.

The last 12 hours have bought "the rain" - possibly even "all the rain". Last night the wisdom of the week ahead was somewhat questionable as the hill behind the house disappeared from view in the rain. Here is a picture of puddle ... best I could do with the resources to hand... it in no way reflects the bigness of rain.

I remind myself there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing. Repeatedly ;)

Tickets please

Submitted by webmaster on Thu, 06/14/2007 - 08:38.

Despite putting my faith in the Royal Mail, Trainline have come through with the goods. We are now in possession of five sizable tickets to get us home from the foot of Ben Nevis.

Last week

Submitted by webmaster on Tue, 06/12/2007 - 16:43.

We are now facing the last week of preparation.

There have been updates to this site.

We have tickets to get home, we now have only the ferries to the Isle of Aron to sort and across the Mersey (to which I intend to sing at least a little).

I have chosen to include this blog, and possibly even threaten the posting of backdated (and heavily edited")copies of the mails that have passed around within the group over the last month ;)

Collective

Submitted by webmaster on Sat, 06/09/2007 - 21:50.

A gathering of participants took place at our illustrious leaders home. Five of the seven were able to attend. Despite the odds of managing to get column inches for an event that was yet to take part (apparently) - we took us some photos for submission to the local and not so local papers. Don't they look special.

The advisory

Submitted by webmaster on Wed, 05/30/2007 - 16:48.

We have a list that allows the members of the group to mail to one address, and it go to all recipients on said list (although thats something not everyone on it has grasped)... following the realisation this was an effective way to spread second rate jokes, the following article caused much... and ongoing amusement - specifically on the topic of underwear and footwear.

None the less a responsible article from a member of the team LEAST likely to be caught out on a pointy bit of land.
