Why?
A very good question, and no doubt one we will all ask at least once a day from the 16th to the 21st of June! We are raising money for the specific support of Prostate Cancer treatment at our local hospitals specialist unit. Currently 23% of all male cancers diagnosed are Prostate related.
Concept
The "three peaks challenge" has been around for many a year. In a nutshell, the traditional outline is to climb the highest peaks in each of the countries on the mainland within 24 hours by car / helicopter / plane / combination of these.
What are they?
The highest peaks in England (Scafell Pike - 978m), Scotland (Ben Nevis - 1344m) and Wales (Snowdon - 1085m) pose a great challenge for anyone wishing to climb them in succession.
Who?
Seven riders from VC Melyd, are attempting to make their way between the peaks by bike, and conquer each one within the space of a week - a distance in excess of 500 miles, and almost 11 000ft of mountain climbed in six consecutive days.
